If necessaryto rest the horse for them, give him a tcaspoonful of saltpetre in thefeed morning and night for three or four days. Prevention.—Never wash the feet and legs in cold or wet weather, sayafter November 1st, till April. It is good for them to be washed in warmweather; it softens the dry, hard hoofs, and cools off the horse whenheated ; but it is objectionable in cold weather.
