HRH The Prince of Wales met former cricket umpire Dickie Bird at the Dickie Bird commemorative statue during his visit to Barnsley, England on Tuesday 24th January 2012. Dickie Bird umpired in four World Cups, three World Cup Finals and 159 international matches in total. Dickie Bird was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1996 and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2012 New Year Honours for services to cricket and charity.
