This genus is distinguished by its slender and almost straight bill which is comparatively long, and the nostrils are feathered on the posterior portion. The wing is rounded, the fourth and fifth primaries longest, the exposed portion of the first primary about equal to the length of the tarsus. The tail is rounded at the tip and about three-sevenths the length of the wing. The tarsus is about one-third longer than 'the exposed culmen. Coloration : male and female similar. 572.
