Kadriorg palace, site of Tallinn's Museum of Foreign Art.


Kadriorg Palace (Kadrioru loss) was designed in the late Baroque style in 1718 by the Italian architect Nicolo Michetti for the Tsar Peter the Great. It was employed as an imperial residence until 1919, but now houses the Foreign Art collection of the Art Museum of Estonia. Ater conquering Estonia in 1711, the palace and surrounding park were a planned as a gift from the Tsar for his mistress Marta Skavronskaya, who became the Empress Catherine in 1724.
