Colorful miracle ribbons decorating the fencing of the church. The fita, or miracle ribbons, of Senhor do Bonfim comes in many colors and is nomally tied around a persons wrist. Its primary function is to petition for future miracles rather than to remind anyone of previous such interventions. The fita is also worn to promote Brazilian pride or as a souvenir by tourists.
