The exploitation of Abu Dhabi's oil reserves has made it the wealthiest emirate of the UAE, itself one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Since 1985, several man-made islands have been created off the cost of Abu Dhabi, including the island of Al Lulu, which covers around four square kilometres.
