During the exercise, the Marines trained the Soldiers on tactical skillsets such as: helicopter loading and offloading, how to set up a hasty landing zone, secure it, and control it with air panels, Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, calling for close-air support, combat live-saver and combat rubber raiding crafts while the soldiers trained the Marines on jungle survival skills such as: patrolling, communications, shelter construction and foraging for food. Tiger Strike 16 is a bilateral exercise between the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Malaysian Armed Forces designed to enhance communication and coordination, and increase combat readiness within the context of stability and security in the region. The Marines are with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
