Between Val Thorens and Courchevel, in the Vanoise area of the Savoie department in the Northern Alps region lies the beautiful ski resort of Méribel-Mottaret. While Méribel is a more traditional chalet style alpine village, Mottaret consists mostly of purpose built apartments. Mottaret, is situated 1,700 metres up in the central valley of the vast Trois Vallées skiing area. It is part of the Méribel resort which is about 300 metres lower down. Mottaret is one of the highest stations in the Trois Vallées with excellent snow conditions from December through to the end of April. It is a small winter sports resort ideal for families with children. Mottaret is a great base for skiers and snowboarders wanting to explore the Trois Vallées which with 600 kilometres of slopes is the largest linked skiing area in the world.
