The Metal Man a beacon-folly at Rosses Point at the entrance to Sligo Harbour, Ireland.

The Metal Man at Rosses Point stands on Perch Rock at the entrance to Sligo Harbour, Ireland. It was cast in 1819 by Thomas Kirke in London, apparently one of four identical models, and erected by local seafarers in 1821. Another is on Great Newton Head overlooking Tramore Bay in County Waterford, but of the remaining two, little is known, they seem to be missing without trace, perhaps lost at sea! Following concerns about the beacon's deteriorating condition, locals petitioned for its renovation. The request came to fruition in 2020 and after almost four weeks of conservation work, cleaning, conserving and painting, the Metal Man has been metaphorically brought back to life.
