Fatty In the chronic varieties of albuminuria castsand are seen free from cells, or the vestige only ofgranular one here and there; but these casts have a dis-eases, tinct granular appearance, and in the finegranular matter, or in more transparent partof the cast, numerous isolated, highly refrac-tive grains or molecules are seen. These appear to be the nuclei of abortive orof broken-up disintegrated cells. When large,25 290 THE URINE. ORGANICFORMS. They are most charac-teristic of the fatty and amyloid form of degene-ration. Granular casts are also met with in thechronic albuminuria of cardiac and pulmonarydropsy.
