Segre (1905-1989)) worked under Enrico Fermi in Italy in the 1920s and 30s. He emigrated to the US in 1938 and worked in Ernest Lawrence's Radiation Laboratory at Berkeley, California. It was there that he and Chamberlain discovered the antiproton. The laboratory was later renamed the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. This portrait of Segre was taken at his home in Lafayette, California, in June 1984.
