Mesopotamian art. Neo-Babylonian. Ishtar Gate, one of the eight gates of the inner wall of Babylon. Built in the year 575 during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar II (604-562 BC) using glazed blue brick with alternating rows of basrelief with dragons mushussu, also called sirrush, and aurochs. It was dedicated to the Babylonian goddess Ishtar. Rebuilt in 1930. A dragon. Pergamon Museum. Berlin. Germany.
