Marl-Haltern am See, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - Flood protection dikes along the Lippe, a river in the Ruhr region, in Haltern-Lippramsdorf and Marl, HaLiMa for short, were renewed over a length of km. The existing dykes on the north and south banks of the Lippe were replaced by new, relocated dykes. A floodplain area of around 60 hectares was created. The fields, the farmers' agricultural land next to the watercourse, are flooded and serve as retention areas and flood protection areas. The Marl Chemical Park on the right.
