Thenfollowed a scene sickening to every one but a dying man was shot in the face with his ownpistol, then scalped, and, lastly, nailed to a Mr. Leal, acting at that time as district attorney,was killed by slow torture, after having been scalpedalive. Some others were killed in another part ofthe village; and the Indians afterwards formed inprocession, parading the bodies of the governor andattorney through the village.
