The house in St Martin's Street, London, England (now demolished) where Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727) once appears to have been typical of the street, consisted of three storeys and basement with a tilled roof. The site is now occupied by Westminster public Reference Library. The entrance doorway had projected hood supported on carved Isaac Newton, occupied the house from 1711 until 1727, the year of his death. He was still active enough to make use of a small observatory which he had built at the top of the house.
