The house of Tan Teng Niah,Located a minute’s walk away from Little India MRT station, the house of Tan Teng Niah stands out easily from neigbouring buildings. This is not only due to its psychedelic colours, but also for its unique status as an isolated Chinese villa located in the heart of Little India. The building was built more than a century ago in 1900, with Southern Chinese and European influences. Its vivid and unique colour-blocking also makes it a photogenic architectural standout, having won the Singapore Institute of Architects Honourable Mention Award in 1991 after restoration works were completed.
