November 1989, Open Air exhibition on site of former Berlin Wall check point at Eastern end of Bornholmer Bridge, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin The exhibition was officially unveiled on 9 November 2011. It remembers the November 9 in German history and celebrates the peaceful revolution in the GDR and the fall of the wall on 9 November 1989. This Bornholmer Strasse border crossing became world-famous on 9 November 1989. After the GDR government announced a new travel regulation, people from Pankow and Prenzlauer Berg hurried to the border to take advantage of the chance to visit West berlin. The pressure exerted by these East Berliners forced the opening of this checkpoint and it was the first of seven to open in Berlin.
