The war-ravaged shell of the former Holiday Inn in Beirut. Opened just before the start of Lebanon's civil war, it soon became a popular spot for snipers. Too big and embedded to be destroyed without taking down neighbouring buildings as well, the former hotel stands as not only a very painful reminder of what has been, but also where not to return.
