Isle of Jura. Satellite image of the inner western isles of Scotland, centering on the Isle of Jura. Brown is heather, which is abundant on the Scottish isles during the summer. At the southern end of Jura is its port, enclosed by small isles. Around the port is the islands main village, Craighouse, and its whisky distillery. Also at the southern end are three mountains, the Paps of Jura. The mainland is at right. At top left is the Isle of Mull, at centre left is Colonsay, at bottom left is the top of Islay and at bottom right is Gigha. Above the Isle of Jura is Scarba, separated by the Straight of Corryvreckan, which is notorious for wrecking ships in its crossed tidal currents.
