Sakata Summer Fireworks Festival Show, Yamagata, Japan

Held on the 1st Sunday of every August, in Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture, by the port area, the Sakata Fireworks Show, is one of Yamagata's grandest and amongst the top in Tohoku. It first started in 1929 and today draws huge crowds from across Japan. Over 12,000 fireworks will be fired during the 2 hour long extravaganza. At its peak, one can enjoy a dynamic firework display stretching over in length.
