Great things were prophesied as to what theMasai would do to the railway when it reached their country; but theyturned out to be the most amiable of all the tribes. Some few are herds-men to people connected with the line, and some of the boys becomeservants for a time, but I have never heard of any working on the line,and such work would be very much against their ordinary habits.
