He was born May 16, 1815, and is the eldest son of thelate Dr. Henry Boteler, of Shepherdstown, a physician of large practice andacknowledged skill in his profession, who had the respect and esteem, notonly of the community in which he lived, but likewise of an extensiveacquaintance beyond its limits.
