Edward Caldwell Moore was born in West Ches-ter, Pa., September i, 1857. He is the son of Rev. Wm. , D. D., and grandson of the Rev. George Foote, D. was graduated from Marietta College in 1877, ^^^ ^^-ceived his masters degree from the same institution in1880. He taught Latin and Greek in the Public HighSchool, Columbus, Ohio, 1877 to 1881, studied theology inUnion Seminary, New York city, 1881 to 1884, was gradua-ted as fellow of the seminary, and spent the next two years—1884 to 1886—in the study of church history in the universi-ties of Giessen, Goettingen, and Berlin, in Germany. OnMay 5, 1887, he was called to the pastorate of WestminsterChurch, Yonkers. In November, 1888, Rev. Mr. Moore received a call tothe pastorate of the Central Congregational Church
