An early example of a Coke fired Blast Furnace at Whitecliff Gloucestershire


A preserved example of an early Coke fired Blast Furnace at Whitecliff ,. It was built in 1789-1801 by James Teague, however was not that successful due to the poor coking quality of local Forest of Dean coal. David Mushet a famous metallurgist was called in to improve it but without success. It is now a scheduled Monument.
