Penile candidiasis in a 70-year-old man with underlying penile psoriasis. This is an infection by the Candida fungus of the penis. Candida infections are known as candidiasis (thrush). Treatment of the infection is with anti-fungal drugs. Psoriasis is a condition in which skin cells are produced much faster than normal. The body cannot shed the cells fast enough, resulting in patches (plaques) of scaly, thick skin, which are often itchy and may become infected.
