Pollination. Macrophotograph of a bee pollinating a poppy flower, Papaver Poppies produce no sugary fluid (nectar) to feed insects, but are prolific sources of pollen for bees, which are attracted by the bright colour of the petals. As it feeds the bee becomes dusted with pollen; some pollen from another poppy may also be brushed onto the flower's reproductive organs, so causing pollination.
