As a consequence they all beartexts from the Koran inscribed in Arabiccharacters, the engraving in many in-stances being beautifully executed. Thequaint Arabic letters that look like someglorified kind of shorthand, are highlydecorative, and were embellished withloving care by the Moslem engravers. The smaller and older examples aremostly oval or more rarely cushion-shaped and were lettered with incised.
