For many years the project ofestablishing a Divinity School of the Protestant Episcopal Church alBoston had been from time to time recurring. In 1867 a verygenerous gifl of Mr. Benjamin Tyler Reed secured what has solong been wanted: and the Episcopal Divinity School of Cam-bridge was founded on a strong basis, which insures its that time other liberal gifts have increased its equipment, and 506 HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN EPISCOPAL CHURCH. it is now one of the best provided theological schools in thecountry. The Church Home for Orphans and Destitute Children, which isnow situated at South Boston, was founded in 1855, by the Mason, who was then Rector of Grace Chm-ch.
