Control room at EISCAT, Svalbard, Norway. Lisa Baddeley, physicist, operating radar dishes in the control room of EISCAT (European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association). Baddeley is an Associate Professor in space physics at the University Centre in Svalbard. She studies the interaction of solar wind on the Earth's magnetic field, a phenomenon that is observed at high latitudes as the aurora. Solar storms can affect modern telecommunication systems such as satellites, TV signals, telephones, GPS navigation and power systems. Photographed in 2014.
