Tarrafal Concentration Camp on the island of Santiago, Cape Verde, also called Campo da Morte Lenta (Camp of the Slow Death) was built by Portuguese dictator Antonio de Oliveira Salazar in 1933 and housed political prisoners and Africans rebelling against colonial rule.
