Tamoxifen breast cancer drug molecule. Tamoxifen is a 'selective oestrogen receptor modulator' (SERM) that blocks oestrogen production in breast tissue by inhibiting ERR-gamma (oestrogen-related receptor gamma, NR3B3). As some breast cancer cells require oestrogen to grow, using tamoxifen to block oestrogen production can help prevent the cancer spreading.
