Yellowish-brown, juveniles often with zigzag or arrow-like markings, periostracum brown; impressions of adductor muscles with orange-brown radial streaks. Fossil: Post Pliocene; Inhambane (Cox). Durban (Sowerby); Port Alfred, dead (Bartsch, Turton). Natal: from Tugela River to Umtwalumi (between Umkomaas and Port Shepstone), 27-54 fathoms, living and dead (S. Afr. Mus. coll.).
