A tangle-proof rotary couping device fitted to a robotic handling system. The coupling is designed to prevent the wires connected to the gripping system being tangled as the robot 'hand' is rotated. Any command requiring rotation through more than 320 degrees from the rest position is automatically overridden with a command to rotate in the oppostite direction. This device is used in robotic manufacturing systems, such as the disc loader seen here.
