Requesens castle surrounded by forest, peak Neulos Albera massif, Alt Emporda, Girona province, Catalonia, Spain. Probably existing since the 9th century, by some authorities it's dated from the year 844. Was built for Gausfred II Rosello in the lands of Count Ponç I d'Empúries. The castle is mentioned for the first time in a document from Ponce I, count of Ampurias in the 11th century (1050).In the 19th century, the ruined castle was rebuilt in a neo medieval is one of the most beautiful and picturesque castles I've ever visited. Situated near the French border, in the green valley, Requesens castle will have you captured from the first moment you see it.
