An Austrian wheellock rifle, M. Simme, Steyr, circa 1700. Octagonal barrel with eight-groove rifled bore in 15 mm calibre. Dovetailed iron front and rear sights. Over the breech an engraved signature "M. SIMME IN STEIR" as well as a brass-filled mark with an ibex between "MS". Cut and florally engraved wheellock (the pan slide a replacement). Walnut full stock with nose and inlays made from pearled staghorn. Iron trigger guard, the ramrod and the patchbox are replacements.
