Extending from the llth St. end back to the carpenter shop isthe paint shop. This shop was located in this manner so that in. one shop to the other, finally emerge from the 10th St. end practi-cally a new car. A traveling crane is to be erected, running fromthe carpenter shop to the blacksmith shop and capable of carryingthe heaviest car. Half of the space over the tracks running by tlic mill and carpen-ter shop, the machine shop and the blacksmith shop will be plat-formed and half without. This is to permit work being done onany part of a car without the inconvenience of step ladders andtemporary scaffolds. .•\11 the machinery in the building is to be operated by electricmotors. Heavy wooden doors are to be provided for each end ofthe building. Heavy galvanized iron fire doors extending from the ceiling areto be put in, and should a fire break out in any one shop thesedoors may be lowered and the fire confined to the shop in which itoriginated.
