When theChicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad was inprocess of construction Mr. Ingle aided incarrying the chain and driving the sticks inthe survey for the original plat of Hoope-ton, the town being named in honor of hisfriend and benefactor, Mr. Hoopes, most ofit being laid out on land belonging to M ,MI\iULI_
