The annual event is held historically on the feast day, 1st of March, in remembrance of the death of St. David (Dewi Sant) the patron saint of Wales. Tradition holds that he died on that day in 569 AD. Daffodils, a Welsh symbol or the leek, St. David’s personal symbol, are worn by patriots. Photo credit : Graham M. Lawrence/LNP
