Caption: Ansons Bay, Tasmania, Australia - Jan 2003. 'The Lodge' an environmentally sustainable and friendly hotel inside the Mount William National Park on Tasmania's East Coast. Built from plantation forests as opposed to old growth, and designed with passive solar insulation, gas and solar power, the Lodge marks a new wave of eco-tourist ventures in Tasmania, an island with vast areas of spectacular wilderness. Owned and run by Cradle Mountain Huts, the lodge can only be reached by a two day coastal walk- the company adopting the philosophy that guests must appreciate the environment before having the privilege of staying at the lodge.
