Each winter (May-Aug) thousands of Australian giant cuttlefish (Sepia apama) make their way to False Bay, Eyre peninsular, nw of Adelaide, South Australia. In this bay at the head of Spencer Gulf, the cold water and rocky seafloor offer prime conditions for the largest known mass spawning of cuttlefish in the to nearly 1m long, the Australian giant cuttlefish is the largest of these unique cephalopods.
