NEISSERIA MENINGITIDIS
The meningococcus is a round-shaped diplococcus belonging to the Nessieria genus. This airborne germ penetrates the organism via the upper airways and can then enter the blood stream and lead to septicemia or inflammation of the meninges and the brain, a disease called meningoencephalitis. The Gram stain is positive.
