Y., in 1S30, and was a daughter of Peter Town-send. Mrs. Meaghers great grandfather made the chain that stretchedacross the Hudson during the revolution to prevent the British from ascend-ing the river from West Point. Her grandfather was the first man in thecountry to make steel rails.
