The proposed construction of the UK's largest dairy farm poses a giant threat to animal 's Super Dairy, Lincoln.

Nocton Dairies wants an 8,100 indoor cow dairy. CPRE’s local group in Lincolnshire is currently campaigning on the proposed construction of a very large scale, intensive, indoor livestock diary unit at Nocton in Lincolnshire, and nationally we are working with the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) as part of a coalition of organisations campaigning against the introduction of large scale, intensive, dairy systems into the UK. Countryside at risk. Our local group objected to the application at Nocton on landscape grounds because the surrounding countryside is characterised by large expanses of arable land interspersed with, for the most part, traditional farm buildings built of stone, brick, tiles and slates. These buildings using local materials blend naturally into the landscape. It considers the siting and scale of the project would result in unacceptable damage to the landscape of this part of the Kesteven Heath and to the residential amenity of substantial numbers of residents in nearby villages. Tranquillity under threat with more traffic and light may also be significant increases in traffic on surrounding rural roads. The planning application for the Nocton dairy estimates that any increases in traffic volume on local roads will be low but our local group is concerned that the B1188 has a poor safety record and increases in HGV traffic could add to problems with road safety. We are concerned about the effects of 24-hour operating regimes that large scale indoor livestock production units may choose to operate, requiring industrial lighting installations that could lead to increases in light pollution. Cumulatively, there could be a significant loss of tranquillity from these factors. Smaller scale farmers could go bust. We are particularly concerned about the economic consequences of consolidating milk production into a number of intensive dairy units dotted around the country. While large milk production units may suit.
