To be sure, it was not a championship team, but tak-ing everything into consideration and considering the marked contrastwith the teams of previous years, we have every reason to be proud ofour 1910 Varsity. Coach Dean realized the necessity for pre-season practice andsent out a call for candidates before school opened. However, it was. ^•(XZXi 00> ->oo oo-:- impossible to get the men on hand, so the plan was abandoned. Practicebegan at the opening of school and twenty or thirty men responded tothe call for candidates. The larger part of these men had had noprevious football experience and the squad steadily dwindled until therewere scarcely enough men to make up two teams. None of the menwere heavy and only a few gave promise of any speed. With 1 4 or15 men of first team caliber, the Coach proceeded to train the menas best he could for the hard schedule ahead of them. The men caughtthe enthusiasm of the Coach and worked together well from the of the old timers, who had followed the fortunes of previousteams, said that the men showed more snap and ginger than any teamin years, and predicted a successful season. The result of the seasonfully justified the prediction, and in spite of the handicaps in weight andmaterial Wyoming made a record which the larger Colorado schools
