Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev seized Antalya in 1207 from the Niceaen garrison there, giving the Seljuq sultanate a port on the Mediterranean. The Siege of Attalia in March 1207 was the successful Turkish capture of the city of Attalia (now Antalya, Turkey). The event is celebrated in Antalya as an anniversary of freedom.
