Marines with an integrated mortar team assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, assigned to Black Sea Rotational Force 14-2, and Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, fire an M252 81 mm mortar system during exercise Platinum Lion 14-1 at the Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria, July 20, 2014. The exercise, which included , Bulgarian, Romanian, Azerbaijani and British service members, was designed to build partner nation capacity, enhance interoperability and increase overall effectiveness. Black Sea Rotational Force is an annual multilateral security cooperation activity between the Marine Corps and partner nations in the Black Sea, Balkan and Caucasus regions designed to enhance participants? collective professional military capacity, promote regional stability and build enduring relationships with partner nations.
