Not for use in Television Not for use in Television Ulcerated hands in leprosy. Close-up of hands of a woman with leprosy. Ulceration has occurred due to nerve involvement, and clawing (bending) of the little finger at left suggests that the ulnar nerve has been affected. Leprosy is a neurological disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae. The damage to the nerves leads to disfiguring skin lesions and deformities. Photographed in India.
