Workers at fast food restaurants engage in a one-day strike

Workers at fast food restaurants, including Burger King, Wendy's, McDonald's, Taco Bell and others engage in a one-day strike in front of the Wendy's in Lower Manhattan New York on Monday, July 29, 2013. The workers are part of the "Fast Food Forward" campaign which is advocating for decent wages and the right to form a union without retaliation. Fast food workers are among the lowest paid in the country with many earning the minimum wage, $ per hour. The campaign wants to raise pay to $15 per hour which they say will put money back into the economy. Low-wage work has accounted for the bulk of the new jobs added since the recent recession.
