Embroidered Sampler 1800 Laura Hyde American This is one of three similar samplers (the other two are in private collections) that can be traced to girls who lived in the Franklin/Norwich area of Connecticut. Illustrated with exotic scenes of faraway lands, they are some of the most unusual samplers stitched by early nineteenth-century schoolgirls.
