I really dont rememberwhether I wrote last week or mosquitoes are so bad that it ishard to write, although we havescreens everywhere they seem to getin somehow, and I just cant holdstill when they are zooning around,and then I ne\er felt such stings asthey do give. We all have nets overour entire beds, so that with screenson the doors and windows makes itpossible to sleep, otherwise I couldntstand them. When we go out in thewoods-we have to wear a net over. Miss Blacknalls Rob. our hats, glomes, high shoes and asweater, or they will naturally run aperson crazy. Its exactly as if onewere in a hive of bees. Alaska truly would be the mostwonderful country in the world if itwere not for the mosquitoes. It trulyis a beautiful place now, everywhereis pink with wild flowers, the air isfragrant with the odor. I wish thatyou could have been with me lastnight, the 21st of June. Mr. Thomastook Miss Rountree and me acrossthe river and we climbed the hill tosee the midnight sun. We climbedfor more than an hour among theseperfectly beautiful flowers, roses,orchids and hundreds of other reached the top at ten minutesto twelve, made a mudge (fire) todrive the mosquitoes away, and thenMr. Thomas took a picture of us ex-actly at twelve. I will send you onewhen they are printed. You see thesun really didnt set at all, it justwent a little ways behind the hilland came right up again. All the timethe sky was a prett
